Connect WhatsApp & Instagram

Hook your Rigox bot up to your business WhatsApp number and Instagram account so it can answer messages 24/7 — under your brand, with your knowledge base.

Before you start

  • You're on the Growth or Enterprise plan. (Subscribe at rigox.com/pricing if not.)
  • You have a Facebook account. The same one you use for your business Page.
  • For WhatsApp: your business is comfortable using the WhatsApp Business Cloud API (Meta's official platform).
  • For Instagram: your account is an Instagram Business or Creatoraccount (settings → switch account type), and it's linked to a Facebook Page.

Method 1 — One-click connect (recommended)

The fastest way to connect. You stay in the Rigox dashboard the whole time — Meta handles the auth in a popup.

  1. Go to Dashboard → My Bots → click the bot you want to connect.
  2. Scroll to Connected channels.
  3. Click Connect WhatsApp in one click (or Instagram).
  4. A Meta-hosted popup opens. Log in with Facebook, pick your business, pick your phone number / Instagram account, and approve the permissions.
  5. The popup closes. Rigox auto-subscribes the webhooks and starts answering messages within seconds. Done.

You never see your Facebook password. Meta returns only a scoped access token to Rigox — and we encrypt it at rest using AES-256-GCM.

Method 2 — Manual setup (fallback)

Use this if one-click signup isn't available for your account, or if you prefer to manage your own Meta app.

WhatsApp

  1. Go to developers.facebook.com → create or pick a Business app.
  2. Add the WhatsApp product. Meta provisions a free test number and a phone_number_id.
  3. In Business Settings → System Users add a System User with Admin role and generate a permanent token with whatsapp_business_messaging + whatsapp_business_management. Token expiration: Never.
  4. In Rigox dashboard → Bot detail → Connected channels → click Advanced: connect manually → WhatsApp. Paste:
    • Phone Number ID: the long number from WhatsApp → API Setup
    • Permanent Access Token: the token from step 3
  5. Rigox shows you a Callback URL and a Verify Token. Paste both into Meta:
    WhatsApp → Configuration → Webhook → Callback URL + Verify token → Verify and save → subscribe to messages field.
  6. Send a message to your WhatsApp number — bot replies in ~5 seconds. Done.

Instagram

  1. Make sure your Instagram is a Business or Creator account, and that it is linked to a Facebook Page (Instagram Settings → Account Center).
  2. In your Meta app dashboard, add the Instagram product. Submit instagram_basic and instagram_manage_messages for App Review.
  3. Generate a Page access token from your linked Facebook Page (System User token, never expires).
  4. Get your Instagram Business Account ID from Meta Business Suite → Instagram → Connected Accounts.
  5. In Rigox → Connected channels → Advanced → Instagram. Paste the Account ID + Page access token.
  6. Rigox shows you a Callback URL + Verify Token. Paste them into your Page's Webhooks → subscribe to messages field.
  7. DM your Instagram account from another phone — bot replies in seconds.

Troubleshooting

The popup opens but immediately closes.+
Check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups for rigox.com. Also disable Facebook-blocking extensions (uBlock can do this). Try in an incognito window.
One-click connect says 'Embedded signup is not configured on this server'.+
The operator hasn't enabled embedded signup yet. Use the Advanced (manual) flow — it's documented above and works the same.
WhatsApp / Instagram says 'no bot for this number / account'.+
The phone_number_id or IG Business Account ID you pasted doesn't match a connected channel in Rigox. Re-check the value in Meta dashboard, then re-paste.
Bot receives messages but never replies.+
Most likely your access token is expired. Generate a new permanent System User token in Meta and re-paste in Rigox. If you used embedded signup, click the Disconnect icon and reconnect.
Customers complain replies look like 'Sorry, I couldn't process that.'+
Your bot needs more knowledge. Open the bot → Knowledge tab → upload PDFs, paste text, or paste your website URL to crawl. The richer the knowledge, the better the replies.
